The current foundation: the directive 2006/42/EC
Even today, all lifting or handling equipment installed by ZeliLift strictly complies with the directive 2006/42/EC. It is this text that imposes:

Why a new regulation?
The old directive dated back to 2006. At that time, collaborative robots (cobots) and autonomous vehicles (AMR) were rare. The newregulation (EU) 2023/1230, published in June 2023, modernises the legal framework.
Unlike a "directive" that must be transposed by each country, this "regulation" applies directly and uniformly across Europe.Key date to remember:the regulation will be mandatory from20 January 2027, but manufacturers (like our partners) are already anticipating these standards.
The 3 major changes for your factory
1. The end of paper: the new regulation officially allows fordigital documentation. Gone are the thick binders that gather dust or get lost. You will now be able to access ZeliLift manuals and certificates via a QR code or a direct link, making document management for your maintenance service easier.
2. Cybersecurity enters safety:this is the big new development. A machine connected to the factory network must not be hackable to cause an accident. The regulation now imposes security requirements against software corruption and cyber threats.
3. Regulation of AI and cobotics:"adaptive machines" (which learn through AI) are now strictly regulated. For ourcoboticsolutions and ourautonomous push tractors, this is excellent news: it clarifies responsibilities and enhances the safety of human-machine interactions.
